Week 30: Speculative Design project videos
This week, we were learning how to make short video for our smart city. After class, I have watched a list of examples from Andy of speculative design projects videos on Vimeo.
I have chosen 2 videos from the list of examples on this website. The first video is one I feel communicate well and the second, one that is less effective.
‘Augmented (hyper)Reality: Domestic Robocop‘ is one of the video which I feel communicate well. It has a clear message about all the information visualization in everywhere, from network to chat with friends, even have detail information to tell people how to make a cup of tea.The author through a small kitchen to express the information which he want to told to the audience, I think that is great.
The interesting things of this video is the author conveys his own kitchen as a space, and the spatial reference for the society as a whole, we can see from the micro small world development of the entire information visualization, that is which I think very interesting place, and writer use many post effects to help viedo to show ideas is also a very interesting way.
About the visual language, “The latter half of the 20th century saw the built environment merged with media space, and architecture taking on new roles related to branding, image and consumerism. Augmented reality may recontextualize the functions of consumerism and architecture, and change in the way in which we operate within it..” What I enjoy most is slightly evil ideas, though it is hard to imagine my life will be the whole information covered, but this idea run out off the rules of design, like movies, will bring infinite imagination, this is what I think best evidence of the author communicate with us.
But, ‘99¢ Futures‘ this video i think the idea is not very integrity and even have the research process to appear. so, that is maybe nothing very interesting i and is not engaging to watch… So,I don‘t like this video very much.
